After starting the game you will get to the Glow main menu. Here you
will see nine menu items, with the items “Save Game” and Statistics
being shaded. Menu controls are operated exclusively via keyboard and gamepad.
You do not need a mouse and hence you can navigate comfortably through the menu
with a gamepad.
The nine menu items:
New Game: You start a new game and select one of the available difficulty levels – Easy, Medium or Hard. Moreover, you need to enter a name which will be used for the level statistics, the global statistics and the Highscore List.
On higher difficulty levels you encounter more enemies and you find less ammunition and hearts in the game levels. In addition, traps cause you greater harm.

Save Game: Only works once a game has been started. You can have up to 50 savegames in Glow.
Load Game: Here you can load a saved game. If you want to load a quicksave simply press the F9 key. More information about this topic can be found under “Save and Load”.
Options: You can modify the resolution, sound volume, controls and other aspects here. See below for further information about the options.
Statistics: The statistics relating to the current level can be retrieved via this menu item. You won’t find any statistics if you haven’t started a game.
Global Statistics: Here you can find all statistics from all players who have played Glow on your installed version. First you select the player’s name, which will give you a screen of the complete statistics. Moreover, you can retrieve the statistics of each completed level.
Highscore List: Your name will appear in the Highscore List once you have scored at least 75,000 points. Increasing point scores will get you further up the list from the 10th position onwards. One particular name can only be shown once in the list. Additional information about statistics and Highscore Lists can be found under “Statistics and Highscores”.
Credits: The list of people who have contributed to making Glow.
End Game: You can leave Glow here.
The options are subdivided into four sub-categories:
Subtitles: Display of subtitles on/off
Splatter: Display of splatter effects on/off
Blood: Display of blood on/off
Autohide inventory: Autohide inventory after selection on/off
Here you can set the controls for Glow. There are default controls for keyboard and gamepad. However, you can assign two different keys/buttons to the same function. To do this, you scroll to the desired item and then scroll to the presetting which you want to change with left/right. You activate the item to be changed by pressing Enter. Now press the new key/button. The new key allocation will be saved.
More information about this topic can be found under “Game Controls”.
Resolution: Here you can change the resolution (default: 1024 × 768).
Fullscreen: Fullscreen mode on/off
Color depth of textures: You can change the color depth of the textures. “16 Bit” is the recommended setting for graphics cards with a memory lower than 128 MB.
VSync: Vertical synchronization on/off. Enabling vertical synchronization instructs the graphics driver to adjust the refresh rate of the screen content to your monitor’s sampling rate. A potential flickering, for example when the camera pans quickly, can be prevented with that function. The FPS rate will thereby be reduced to your monitor’s frequency.
Gamma: Gamma settings can be changed here.
Simultaneous sound sources: Here you can change the number of simultaneously audible sound sources. However, Glow is unable to play more sound sources than is supported by the hardware (sound card or sound chip).
Background volume: Constant background stream during the game levels
Foreground volume: Ambient sound sources
Effects Volume: Sound effects and Stevie
Footsteps: The sound of footsteps can be switched on/off.
